Bucolic Independence Day

 I drove up to Wisconsin to visit old Shotgun Bob over the fourth.  His family lives a bit off the beaten path, as do the rest of the people in Rice Lake (Pop. 8,419).  I found it relaxing.

We went to two fireworks displays, one in Rice Lake, another in nearby Shell Lake (Pop. 1,300).  The people were nice and courteous to each other.  Children didn't tear around shrieking and screaming.  Likewise the adults kept their conversations to themselves.  Pedestrians and traffic mixed easily.

 Before the censors take this digital rag off their platform on the grounds of immorality, I'd like to get one more provocative, insulting, and emotionally stimulating question out there.  Unfortunately I can't take credit for this one, but I wish I'd thought of it.

I was wasting time over at Filthie's Thunderbox (Where Great Intelligence Goes To Be Insulted) and was reading his missive You Didn’t Build That….  when I stumbled across this little gem in the comments section posted by an idle reader calling himself Stuart (no first name, no middle initial), who claims to be from Louisiana but is probably from South Dakota or someplace.

You have to ask?  Today, the fourteenth day of July in the year of Our Lord two-thousand twenty-and-one, is National Nude Day.

Anyone unfortunate enough to have seen me in the buff in the past, oh, say, thirty years, is not going to want to see a naked photo of me now.  That's not we're about here at the Shack.  What we want are red hot female hotties who are busy celebrating National Nude Day.  I'm confident that a cursory search of the Internet will turn up a few interesting photos for both men and women - the only two sexes I recognize.

I'm religious.  I cheerfully admit to being a born again Christian.  I am also a work in progress.

All that said, I've often wondered just why the Lord doesn't take a more active role in the various activities in our world - then something like this happens.
