Ever wonder what goes on in a massage parlor?  No?  Well let me tell you, you don't know what you're missing.  Keep reading to find out why a man with my discriminating taste would recommend this to any adult who either has a relationship or is contemplating getting involved.

I stumbled across Alexa's blog more by accident than anything else.  A blog written by a sex worker is a real novelty, but most are either complete fakes or employ a ghost writer, the average sex worker having a skill set generally not learned in High School English.  Although I suppose there's always the old after school special.

Like her blog, the book is well written.  I get the feeling that grammatical errors weren't discovered and corrected during editing so much as these sorts of errors weren't made in the first place.  Likewise spelling and typographical errors are next to non-existent - I think I counted three typos in the entire book, which is pretty impressive.

This is the story of the author's career, her decision to change careers and the determination it takes to point yourself along a new path.  Alexa shoots herself in the foot a few times, but when that happens she just grins, hitches up her jeans and soldiers on.  She doesn't whine about all the unfairness of life, and I admire that attitude.  In between life's little fender-benders, Alexa writes about her clients and just why they show up in their birthday suit lying on her massage table.  She also explains just how and why she got into the sex worker business in the first place.

Alexa's book has the ring of truth to it.  The reason I say this is because I've known several sex workers over the years, and the things Alexa explains about her clients serve to validate what I've learned in the past. Any woman who wants to keep her man out of the massage parlor should buy herself a copy of this book, read it and give some serious thought to just how happy and satisfied her old man really is.  I can just hear the howls now.

"My husband would never do anything like that!"

How do you think Alexa stayed in business?  Look at the things her clients really want, take a hard look at your marriage and then tell me all about it.

This is not a Horatio Alger story, nor is it the story of an emergent Pollyanna.  Alexa is not a typical sex worker.  She's bright, she has a sense of her own responsibility and she's able to write.  Her faults are the same faults average people have.  For instance, she isn't a drug addict (reformed or otherwise) and she doesn't go around committing crimes against civilization as we know it.  Likewise, her story is not the self-proclaimed real life drama complete with hero, car chase and happy ending (pun intended) that I think many people would expect.  Instead, it's a wry description of her business and personal life.

Confessions of an Erotic Masseuse is an easy read and enjoyable.  I rate this book as a three and a half out of five stars.
