I’m thinking that was a lower power shell too. I’ve loaded the 45-70 to high end for modern lever guns and they were downright wretched - and that in a carbine. Modern bolt guns can go even higher...

Big Mike has a .45-70 carbine, and that little rifle has a very nasty kick to it. I wouldn't want to shoot any hot cartridges in it.
