Protesters and Pepper Spray

Here in Columbus we now have a curfew.  Starting last night (Saturday, 5/30/20) at 10:00 PM and ending the next morning at 6:00 AM, no one is allowed to peacefully assemble for the purposes of political protest (or any other reason, because every time you get unsupervised youth congregating in a group without a clear purpose, you get destruction of private property and various other crimes)...

Can everyone see where I'm going with this?

I hope so.  Keep reading for some good news about the riots in Columbus last night.  As usual, those who object to free speech, politically incorrect statements, white privilege, black privilege... whatever.  Read at your own risk.

The protest yesterday started about 2:00 in the afternoon.  People showed up, marched, chanted, carried signs, and left pounds of litter behind them.  The rioters slept in.  Around 8:00 or so Antifa showed up, and when it got dark they got to work.  Because of the curfew, and because the Columbus PD were all tired and a bit cranky, Antifa kept a lower profile than usual.

Right in the middle of all this, guess who shows up?  The Queen of Fat Yap Her Own Self, Joyce Beatty.  The rest of the local officialdom (that would be the Columbus City Government) had the sense to stay inside, causing me to revise my opinion of their combined intelligence upward a degree or two.  But Beatty?  Oh hell no.

I found this one at Politico: African-American Congresswoman Pepper-Sprayed During Racism Protest

Well, how about that?

From the article:

Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty and several top African-American local officials were pepper sprayed by Columbus, Ohio, police during protests Saturday afternoon over the death of George Floyd.

Beatty was marching with Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin and Franklin County Commissioner Kevin Boyce when a confrontation broke out near them. A female protester had one foot in the street, according to Beatty, when police officers began pushing their bicycles up against the crowd to keep them on the sidewalk.
So, in her infinite wisdom and absolute, infallible authority, Beatty jumped right into the middle of this minor fracas and pushed a cop while shouting, "Don't elevate things! Don't elevate them!"

No, I didn't just make a typo.  That's actually what she said, although I suspect she means escalate.

Then the police pulled out a can of pepper spray and let 'em have it.

Now, I've never been pepper sprayed, and I have no desire to ever be pepper sprayed.  Or tazed, or cuffed and stuffed, or have the crap slapped out of me by an irate cop, or anything like that.  I've seen video of pepper spray being used, and it looks pretty effective.  At least it was effective on Beatty, who, along with Hardin and Boyce, backed off and shut up.

I don't know who pepper sprayed Beatty, Hardin, and Boyce, but I'm officially thanking them.  This is something we could all use a lot more of.

Last night there were dumpster fires all over the place, and around 3:00 AM an apartment complex that was under construction and unoccupied went up and gave the Columbus Fire Department a new hobby.  They finally put it out, but it took hours to get it under control.

This is the work of Antifa.  All these riots are planned and staged events.  President Trump has declared Antifa a terrorist organization, which it is.  One accurate remark came from Marco Rubio (see below).

Trump Says He Will Designate Antifa a Terrorist Organization as GOP Points Fingers at Extremists

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., tweeted the "big story" being missed is that in "city after city we have a rogues gallery of terrorists from Antifa to 'Boogaloo' groups encouraging and committing violence."

"They may not be ideologically compatible but share a hatred of govt and  police and are taking advantage of the protests," Rubio, acting chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, added, saying the demonstrators "don't fit a simple left vs. right identity."

These individuals want to "tear the whole system down even if it requires a new civil war, Rubio said.

He called it.  The domestic enemy is not only the lunatic Left, but we also have Antifa, the Boogaloo Boys, and a host of others.  There is very little of Left vs. Right, but there's a ton of wreckage over reason.

Me, I'm too old to protest much of anything anymore.  I have a calmer disposition.  I'm also somewhat fatalistic, and I'm beginning to seriously wonder where all this is going to end up.

I think this will only get worse until some (or a whole bunch) of blacks and white leftists are killed.

It’s ridiculous. There is no moral line or connection from “an innocent black was murdered by a white cop” to “I am going to steal a flat screen TV and burn shit”. I urge people to take to the roof tops and start shooting. At some point these monkeys will have to be dealt with...

Did you see the video of the Antifa idiot using a hammer to tear up a sidewalk? Then BLM members grabbed him, shouting, "Take his ass!", disarmed him, and none too gently took him right to the police line where he was arrested.

Glen: I'm watching BLM protestors marching and chanting about civil rights, and it brings back memories of the 1960s. Then they have 'demands', but I haven't been able to find a printed list of these demands anywhere.

CW: I missed seeing the video, but I heard about it. Good for them!
