George and Peter and I

The Bayou Renaissance Man, AKA author Peter Grant, stumbled across the toxicology report for George Floyd, and not being able to leave well enough alone, he had to go and post about it.

Some people will take their finger out of the dike just to see if the water will come out.  Trust me, it will.

My own commentary is below the fold, and comes with the usual disclaimers and warning labels.

I love being late to the party.

George Floyd passed a bogus sawbuck.  Just why the cops would take a concerned interest in this is far beyond anything I'm capable of imagining, but here we all are.

Go to any convenience store, hand the clerk a phony sawbuck, and you'll get your phony money back in a New York minute.  If you make a fuss, you'll be told to leave.  In the bad old days, the clerk would bounce a Pete Rose off your thick skull, but these days you're told to hit the bricks - one way or the other.

In this case some enterprising genius calls the doughnut munchers, they show up, and the posthumously famous civil rights political activist, George Floyd, eats his entire stash.  Unfortunately for George, the stash in question carries a fatal dose of Fentanyl and our favorite crusader does a buck and wing off the face of the planet and the Lord sorts him out.  But let's be clear about this.

George Floyd is no great loss to society.  He was, by all accounts, a violent criminal with a room temperature IQ and a penchant for being bone idle.  Once George swallowed his stash of Fentanyl, that was it for him.  He was done.  Kaput.

We'll miss him.

The cops are not at fault here, and the persecutor has no case.  The local PD should have backed them up until they got their sweaty hands on the tox report.  They should have also used fire hoses and firearms on the domestic terrorists labeled as peaceful demonstrators.

Agree or not, that's my thinking.

From what I understand the cop of main concern has been let out on bail...he was overcharged to begin with. Dino

The other issue is “the evil cops kneeling on the vic’s neck”. George Floyd was no shrimp. I’ve worked with iron workers his size, and those men are so big and so strong that that they can snap 1-1/2” bolts with a spud wrench. Putting that in perspective - I can do chin-ups on that without moving it. Those cops were in serious danger when they took him down. They would have had to shoot him had he gotten violent.
I hope those guys sue the police dept. and the city for the way they were treated.

Dino: From www.aljazeera.com:

Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter; Thomas Lane, Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao are charged with aiding and abetting both second-degree murder and manslaughter.

Chauvin had the option of posting bail for $1.25m without conditions or $1m with conditions. Under the conditions of his release, he must attend all court appearances, cannot have any direct or indirect contact – including social media – with any members of Floyd’s family, cannot work in law enforcement or security, and surrendering firearms.

The other three officers previously posted bail amounts of $750,000 and have been free pending trial. Currently, all four men are scheduled to face trial together in March, but the judge is weighing a request to have them tried separately.

This entire business is an effort to derail the Presidential Election. The moonbats are willing to do anything to win this one.

Glen: I looked at the pictures. Floyd was big and in good shape. If he wanted to resist arrest and he'd been sober, those four would still be in the hospital and I'm betting at least one cop would have bit the cement from friendly fire. Then there's the crowd of spectators to consider - how many of them would have collected a few 9mm slugs?

I'm fully aware of police brutality, but I watched the clip several times and didn't see anything out of line. The thing is that while Chauvin had his knee on Floyd's neck, he didn't have his weight on it.

I won't be surprised if any trial against Chauvin is delayed because in the end his knee on Floyd's neck can not be proved to be the reason without a doubt for the death. This is unusual and unfortunate that one died but due process may take a long course. Dino

Dino: You got it. The trial is going to take forever and cost a fortune. Hell, just the added security in the courtroom is going to be a major cost. And a jury trial? The whole thing is going to put a dent in the city budget.

Trying all four at once would probably be the smart thing to do, but should the accused lose the trial, and appeal is automatic. And a hung jury? How likely is that going to be? From what I know right now, sitting here, I'd find all four not guilty and send 'em home with a fifth of whiskey.
