You Couldn't Pay Me to Do That...

 ...but they tried.

Right after coffee and breakfast, I checked my email and discovered that Giant Eagle is offering - well, check the screen shot.

I can't decide if Giant Eagle has sold out to the Lunatic Left, or the upper management just doesn't give a tinker's damn, or if it's a case of plain old ignorance and stupidity. I have, however, decided this much: I'm not getting a flu shot.

I've had people (none of whom I'll name) to stay away from government funded vaccinations because the side effects are worse than anything I'm doing now. That's saying something.

This is the tip of the iceberg. In many States you have to be inoculated for various diseases before you're allowed to attend public school, which is its own can of worms. Here in Ohio, most students who attend public school are reading below grade level, and as low as that bar is I kind of wonder if they can read at all. Add to that their scores in basic math (pun intended), and you can just forget any sort of social studies or history. Plus, we-the-people get to feed the little monsters breakfast and lunch.

Now this?

We're being bribed to get flu shots? I wonder what the mortality rate is?

Thanks for reading.

I'm fine with it being a personal choice. I do get the quadrivalent flu vaccine (over 65) and have had the pneumococcal vaccine. I will not get the Covid vaccine, but keep up to date on tetanus. My situation is that I need to stack the deck in any way that favors me.

There's a lot of garbage information on both sides of the vaccine debate. Every loon out there has a megaphone these days, thanks to the internet, and critical thinking seems to be a lost art. Nothing was helped by the ham-handed way that the government handled the Covid breakout. A mandate of any kind is a non-starter for me. YMMV.

Well I’m with you Jack. As NM said above, there’s more hype and hot air on both sides of the debate. Immunology, histology and microbiology are largely proven, settled science. What’s new is that we can no longer trust the “experts” in these fields. IMHO the Covid debacle was not ham-handed error or clumsiness… it was a scam, a fraud, and a con. And far, far too many people went along with it rather than doing the homework required to inform themselves.

I also disagree with the idea of the computer being a megaphone for lunatics. Times have changed; the lunatics are now on the mainstream media. I personally emulate the Japanese in this regard. By fact checking on the computer I can monitor my own fluids and double check my doctor’s work. I can compare his opinion to others. I can double check the compatibility of my meds and their potential side effects. Unless you are extremely frail or elderly most colds and flus are best treated with hot soup, scotch and bed rest.

I can’t think of one shot I have regretted not getting. For me zero is the number of shots I need.

Yeah, the more I hear, the less likely I'll ever get another.

I'm in my 80's and have never had a flu shot. Or most any shot. Doc always asks as he smiles at my No, as in hell no to any shot. I've not had a cold, the flu in last 25 years.

NM: I used to get the flu shot and I believe it kept me from getting sick one year - everyone in the office got sick except those of us who got the shot. So that year it was a good thing.

The whole COVID fiasco has me worried. I personally think it was a test run by our government to see about compliance - but maybe not. Well, maybe not since Trump took office.
