A Walk in the Garden

Things in the neighborhood are a little chaotic these days. I may write more about the situation later on, but for now let me just say that drinking is not a good idea as I may have to operate with a clear head.  As I sat in front of my computer the other day I noticed this bird having a great time eating the insects he was finding in the lawn just outside my window. I have no idea what kind of bird he is, but he looks fancy.

Bird on the Lawn
A few days ago La Vicomtesse made a slightly disparaging remark about the iris in Main Lady's front yard and their resemblance to blue haired old ladies.  By way of retaliation I am posting two pictures of iris, both taken from Main Lady's front yard, both recent photos.

Faces in the Crowd at the Beauty Parlor
Here's another set of tulip photos.  I enjoy the tulips and I think I'll suggest that the girls plant a few more this year.  All I have to do is find a way to keep the squirrels from digging up the bulbs and eating them.

How doth the little busy Bee...

The bee took off shortly after I took its picture.  I hope this isn't an African killer bee, migrated to Northern Ohio.  I suppose it might be, but I wouldn't know a killer bee even if I was pissing on it.

Main Lady has a dogwood tree that's doing pretty well these days.  She also got a pink dogwood to go along with it, and the contrast is very nice.  I'll give them another few years before they are really well developed.

Flowering Bush
I have no idea what the bush is, but I like it.  Here's a nice dogwood tree from one of Main Lady's neighbors.  I took the photo on my afternoon canine constitutional.

I note that the sun is well over the yard arm and unless I hurry along I'll be more than fashionably late for the happy hour.  Cheers!

LOL! Only certain iris! However, my mother-in-law informed me yesterday that because I had so many I must learn to like them. "Yes, ma'am, I will endeavor to do so," I replied but I lied.

That bird is a male Northern Flicker.

You lied to your mother-in-law? I don't believe it!

I suppose it might be something along the lines of, "You know you're getting old when you start to like the iris you've been growing in your flower garden for the past fifty years."

Blue Haired Grannies - Ha, Ha, I love it!

I'm glad the bird was identified. I'm one of those sad people who can't enjoy things without knowing their name! I'd have had to spend ages finding it out. Why is that, I wonder?

Why? I don't have the slightest idea, but I'll bring it up tonight at the club.

Nice to see you. Hands across the water and all that. Well, cheerio!
